Campus schedules safety, suicide prevention events

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is putting the spotlight on campus safety this week with a series of events.

Suicide Prevention Week (Monday-Friday)

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in college students, and during the week of Sept. 21-25, staff members at UALR Counseling Services hope to help destigmatize mental health problems and make people aware of the aid that’s available by calling the department at 501-569-3185.

UALR has scheduled daily Suicide Prevention Week activities, coinciding with National Campus Safety Awareness Month. All activities are in the Donaghey Student Center.

Remaining UALR Suicide Prevention Week activities include:
•10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 in Upper Concourse: Gallery of Hope Artistic Expression Contest
•10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 in Foyer and Mall: “Resilience Day” & Balloon Release Give-Away & Creative Day
•Noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 in Meeting Room B: Gallery of Hope Awards Ceremony
