Dr. Robert Duke, director of the Center for Music Learning at the University of Texas at Austin, is the featured speaker for the Friday, March 17, Academy of Teaching and Learning Excellence lecture at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. 

The event, “Why Students Don’t Learn What We Think We Teach,” sponsored by the UA Little Rock Department of Music, will take place at noon in Donaghey Student Center Ledbetter Meeting Room 214A.

Duke’s research on human learning and behavior spans multiple disciplines, including motor skill learning, cognitive psychology, and neuroscience. His most recent work explores the refinement of procedural memories and the analysis of visual gaze in teacher-learner interactions. He is also the co-host of the radio show & podcast “Two Guys on Your Head.”

Shadow-A-Student program

The academy is recruiting UA Little Rock faculty and students to participate in the Shadow-A-Student program that has faculty members shadow students to learn about the university from the student perspective.
