UA Little Rock welcomes students with Trojan Daze Week
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is welcoming fall 2017 students with an exciting lineup of free activities.
Trojan Daze Week runs Saturday, Aug. 12, through Sunday, Aug. 19.
Activities begin with “Rachel’s Challenge” at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, in Donaghey Student Center Ledbetter Hall. This keynote address tells the inspiring story of Rachel Scott, the first victim in the Columbine High School shooting.
Students can kick off the semester with the UA Little Rock Block Party featuring a DJ at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, on the UA Little Rock Brick Plaza.
New students will be welcomed to campus with the Freshman Convocation at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the University Theatre in the Center for Performing Arts. The ceremony marks the beginning of the freshman class’s academic journey.
Following the Freshman Convocation, afternoon activities will include lunch, a pep rally with UA Little Rock’s athletic teams, and an organizational fair beginning at noon in the Donaghey Student Center Fitness Center. The UA Little Rock Bookstore will host a fashion show at 1 p.m.
After the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 16, students can enjoy Green Dot Karaoke at 7 p.m. in Donaghey Student Center Ledbetter Hall.
Students can start the weekend off right with tailgating at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, in the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex. Then they can cheer on the soccer team as it battles Central Arkansas in the first game of the season at 7 p.m.
Trojan Daze Week concludes with the seventh annual Reach 13,000 Kickball Tournament Saturday, Aug. 19. Games begin at 4:15 p.m. Potential participants can register a team by filling out this online form.
Additional activities include study abroad workshops, meet and greets with Greek organizations and Student Government Association members, an ice cream social, meals, and recreation nights.
