Faculty recital to feature saxophonist Andy Wen

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host a faculty recital featuring associate professor Andy Wen on saxophone. 

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the UA Little Rock Fine Arts Building. The event is free and open to the public.

Wen’s faculty recital will include four world premieres: Dr. Robert Boury’s Dialogue, for soprano saxophone and piano; Joshua Reed’s Ballade for alto saxophone and piano; Dr. Neil Flory’s Concerto with piano; and L.A. Logrande’s Bouncing Owen.

Wen is an associate professor of saxophone and clarinet at UA Little Rock, a founding member of the Arkansas Saxophone Quartet, and plays principal alto saxophone in the Little Rock Wind Symphony.

He earned his Doctorate of Music Arts from the University of Georgia studying saxophone with Kenneth Fischer and clarinet with Theodore Jahn. Wen’s performances have taken him to 25 states, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Japan, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and Thailand. He has performed concertos with bands and orchestras, solo recitals, and chamber concerts, and has released two CDs, Apparitions and Apparitions 2, with Emeritus Recordings.
