UA Little Rock to host invitational choir event March 3
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host “Voces Omnes: A Collaborative Choral Concert” featuring choirs from UA Little Rock, local high schools, and special guest mirabai on Tuesday, March 3.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building on the UA Little Rock Campus.
The event will feature performances from the Parkview High School Lab Singers and the Central High School Concert Mixed Chorus. Also performing is mirabai, a professional women’s ensemble comprised of music educators from across the country who seek to elevate the artistic expectations of women’s choral singing by connecting powerful women of music.
The UA Little Rock Chamber Singers will perform “Truth” by Andrea Ramsey, a native Arkansan and mirabai singer. The program will celebrate living composers with music by Susan Brumfield, Daniel Elder, Dan Forrest, Ola Gjeilo, Susan LaBarr, Jacob Narverud, Andrea Ramsey, and Moira Smiley.
“The concert will culminate with a piece combining all the choirs together,” said Lorissa Mason, director of choral activities. “It will be a night to remember.”
