Historians and activists who lived through the American Civil Rights movement of the 1960s will discuss their personal stories of the era from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Ledbetter Hall B at UALR’s Donaghey Student Center.

Panelists will include Albert Porter, a former faculty advisor to the Lane College chapter of the NAACP, whose members stage lunch counter sit-ins in downtown Jackson, Miss.; UALR Professor Emeritus Allan Ward, a former humanities professor at Lane; Grif Stockley, biographer of Daisy Bates and author of “Civil Rights Crusader from Arkansas;” and Royden Eric Agent, chair of the History Department at Kamo High School of Whangarei, New Zealand.

The event is hosted by the UALR International Studies Program and the Arkansas Council for International Visitors.
