The installation of new polyurethane turf at Gary Hogan Field is complete. The new state-of-the-art surface covers nearly the entire infield, with only the pitcher’s mound being built with true clay.
Former UALR men’s golfer Keith Becker will receive the faculty award for Outstanding Student in the MBA program in the College of Business and will be inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the Donald W. Reynolds College of Business.
Walter C. “Buddy” Coleman, whose family and farm have been neighbors of UALR since the campus was established, died Monday, Oct. 24, just days after he and his family were honored for their support for Trojan athletics. He was 83.
The Trojans (22-32) outhit the Western Kentucky 13-9 at Day Two in the Sun Belt Baseball Tournament and have already locked up a spot in Sunday’s championship game with their upset win over top-seed Troy State on Thursday. UALR senior Solomon Bozeman became the third player in school history to receive Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year honors on Thursday, as voted on by the league’s coaches and media members. Bozeman, who also received First Team All-Sun Belt accolades, joins former UALR standouts Derek Fisher (1995-96) and Muntrelle Dobbins (1996-97) as the only Trojans to receive the Sun Belt Player of the Year award.

UALR Trojan and Los Angeles Laker Derek Fisher has taped an episode of NBC’s game show “Minute to Win It,” and his winnings will go to UALR Athletics’ Fisher Fellows Life Skills Program.
Former UALR standout and current Los Angeles Laker guard Derek Fisher will receive the 2010 sportsman of the year award at the sixth annual L.A. Sports Awards on Feb. 24 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
A fifth generation of Coleman dairymen – the sons of W.C. “Buddy” Coleman – has presented UALR a gift of 10 acres of what was part of the oldest dairy farm west of the Mississippi to make possible a recreation and sports complex and make Little Rock eligible to host sanctioned track and field events.
