“Reasonable Cause Defense to Underpayment in the Partnership Context,” an article by UALR Professor Robert R. Oliva, chair of the Department of Accounting, and accounting instructor Roger Dorsey, was published in the March issue of Warren, Gorham, and Lamont’s Practical Tax Strategies/Taxation for Accountants.

  Neil Weinberg, Forbes Media senior editor and co-host, analyst, and commentator for the weekly television program “Forbes on Fox,” will discuss “Ethical Failure: How Rampant Corruption is Wrecking the U.S. Economy” at the second College of Business Dean’s Forum Speaker Series on April 12. The event is free and open to the public.

The UALR College of Business is seeking nominations for its 2010 Distinguished Alumnus and Young Alumnus awards. Recipients will be recognized at the college’s awards luncheon Oct. 15.

Dr. Anthony Chelte, dean of UALR’s College of Business, will be a panelist at the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business’ assessment conference in San Antonio this month. And for the sixth consecutive year, Chelte will be the sole facilitator for AACSB’s Department Chairs Seminar April 18-20 in Anaheim, Calif.

Students in UALR’s Sustainable Business Issues course offered by the College of Business’ MBA program are helping businesses to become more sustainable.

UALR students and alumni are invited to participate in the spring career fair, Career Connection Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, in the Donaghey Student Center Ledbetter Halls A, B, and C.

Dr. Rolf T Wigand, UALR’s Maulden-Entergy Chair and Distinguished Professor of Information Science and Management, was the author or co-author of seven published papers last fall that focused on electronic markets, information quality, the convergence of real and virtual worlds, measuring the quality of e-service, and other research that is expanding the scope of e-commerce.

Dr. Stephanie Farewell, associate professor of accounting at UALR’s College of Business, will have her manuscript, “Adios! Airways: An Assignment on Mapping Financial Statements to the U.S. GAAP XBRL Taxonomy,” published in the American Accounting Association’s Issues in Accounting Education.

Simmons First National Bank, headquartered in Pine Bluff, Ark., which established a $25,000 UALR scholarship fund in 2002, has announced a second gift today, adding another $30,000 for the fund.
