A retired University of Arkansas at Little Rock professor—an advocate for the Hispanic and Latino communities—will be recognized by Just Communities of Arkansas at its humanitarian awards ceremony. 

Thanks to the financial assistance she received to attend the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a graduating student decided to dedicate her time to help high school students get into college. 

When Denilson Mendez was 4, his mother brought him to the United States so he could have a better life. 

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) will award scholarships to 26 University of Arkansas at Little Rock students at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30. 

Dr. Zulma Toro-Ramos, executive vice chancellor and provost at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, will be the featured speaker at the 2015 League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 750 scholarship Banquet.

Thirteen University of Arkansas at Little Rock students received recognition at the 2014 League of United Latin American Citizens Council (LULAC) 750 Little Rock Scholarship Banquet on Oct. 25 at the Clinton President Center.

UALR has a record number of Latino and Hispanic students in the LULAC scholarship program this year. Fall applications are due March 31.

When Ricardo Alvarez received his diploma from Central High School in Little Rock, he initially planned to accept scholarships to play college football.

Many may now recognize LULAC, The League of United Latin American Citizens, as the nation’s oldest and largest Latino civil rights organization.

Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe congratulated 40 Latino and Hispanic scholarship recipients during the League of United Latin American Citizens’ annual scholarship banquet held Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Governor’s Mansion.
