Hendrix Pair Perform Liszt Nov. 11
Norman Boehm and Annaliese Crosmer will perform a two-piano version of Franz Liszt’s Faust Symphony at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building. The event is free and open to the public.

UALR Opera Theatre will present Englebert Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” from Friday, Oct. 28, to Sunday, Oct. 30, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building.
L.A. Composer Steinmetz to Reside in October
The regional premiere of “A Little Traveling Music,” by Los Angeles musician John Steinmetz, will be the centerpiece of the bassoonist’s residency Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building. The residency is sponsored by the UALR Department of Music.

Norman Boehm, resident pianist at Hendrix College, will perform a repertoire that includes original works by Robert Boury, UALR resident composer, at a recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building.
Flutist to Perform Sept. 10
Atlanta Symphony flutist Christina Smith, one of the youngest principal flutists of a major U.S. orchestra, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building, presented by College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences’ Department of Music.
Soprano Opens Artspree Season Sept. 17
Soprano Carol Vaness, who has performed at major theaters, opera houses and concert halls around the world, will open UALR’s 2011-2012 Artspree season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building.
Beatles Medley Featured in Spring Concert
The UALR Department of Music will present the Guitar Ensemble’s spring concert, including medley of Beatles compositions arranged by Professor Michael Carenbauer. The 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 25, concert in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall of UALR’s Fine Arts Building is free and open to the public.
Grammy Winner Performs at Artspree
Artspree, UALR’s performance series, will present 2001 Grammy Award violinist Mark O’Connor at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, in the University Theatre in UALR’s Center for Performing Arts.
Opera Theatre Presents Two Performances in April
UALR Opera Theatre will present two American operas, Tom Johnson’s “The Four Note Opera” and Virgil Thomson’s “Four Saints in Three Acts,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, and at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building.
Music Students Take Top Honors in Competition
Five UALR singers participated in the Arkansas Chapter Spring Conference competitions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing last month in Searcy.
