Within its first four months, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s first food pantry has had a successful start. The pantry has received around $3,000 in donations from local companies, including a generous donation of $1,100 from the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Cantrell Road.

Within its first month, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s first-ever food pantry has already helped 115 people and households, with no end in sight.
About 40 requests were made the first week the pantry opened. Since then, there have been about 25 requests per week.

A new food pantry is set to help those in need at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, thanks to the work of the campus community and university organizations.
On Tuesday, Feb. 2, a large crowd of media, students, faculty, staff, and community leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, kicking off the pantry’s inaugural week.
With the help of the campus community and university organizations, the new University of Arkansas at Little Rock Trojan Food Pantry will open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday beginning Feb. 4.
“It’s been a group effort on campus,” said Betsy Hart, assistant director of the UALR Community Connection Center. “Folks all over campus have been coming up to us, saying this has been a need for a long time.”
