UA Little Rock Dedicates Arvest Classroom in the School of Business
A generous donation from Arvest has revitalized a business classroom at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, creating a cutting-edge learning environment for students, faculty, and the community.
Arvest has provided a $55,000 donation to sponsor the classroom for five years, highlighting Arvest as the first company to sponsor a classroom in the Reynolds Business Building at UA Little Rock. The sponsorship will ensure the classroom remains equipped with the latest innovations and technology.
“Education, particularly in business, plays a critical role in shaping the future of our economy and society,” said Ron Witherspoon, community bank president for Arvest Central Arkansas. “By upgrading this classroom, we’re investing in the future leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs who will shape our world. We’re proud to support an institution that consistently pushes the boundaries of education and innovation.”
This renovation marks a significant investment in the future of business education and strengthens the partnership between UA Little Rock and Arvest.
“When we first started inviting companies to tour the Reynolds Building, Arvest was one of the first to come out for a visit,” said Michael Johnson, director of development for the College of Business, Health, and Human Services. “They know the importance of having a strong classroom to community connection with UA Little Rock. Arvest has been a dedicated partner with UA Little Rock for many years. And to help build on that partnership, they realized that sponsoring a room would go a long way in strengthening their connection with our campus.”
Over the years, Arvest Bank has been a steadfast supporter of UA Little Rock, providing time and financial support for students. Arvest also supports multiple UA Little Rock events and initiatives including the School of Business Golf Tournament, the Distinguished Business Alumni Luncheon, the Chancellor’s Circle, Taste of Little Rock, the Trojan Golf Shamble, and SpectacuaLR.
“I’m proud to represent my employer and to serve my alma mater,” said Marcus Guinn, executive vice president and loan manager for Arvest Central Arkansas and a School of Business Advisory Council member. “We are excited to see the incredible work that will come out of this classroom and the success stories that will emerge from it. Our commitment to supporting education and fostering talent remains unwavering, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.”
This gift is a part of the Centennial Campaign, UA Little Rock’s fundraising campaign in celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2027. This campaign pillar focuses on enhancing the living and learning environment to ensure that students learn in an environment that meets their needs and has the latest innovation and technology.
“I am happy to celebrate our 18th classroom dedication at UA Little Rock,” Provost Ann Bain said. “When students have great spaces to live and learn, they build better connections, have better learning outcomes, and are better equipped for success. This room not only honors the current Arvest employees who are alumni, but also serves as an inspiration for current students. Your generous investment in our students and university will help keep the School of Business in the forefront in preparing our students for success in the workforce for years to come.”
The Arvest Classroom is a favorite of faculty and students in the School of Business, who use the classroom to have student organization meetings, host speakers, hold experiential learning opportunities, and Career Catalyst meetings. The room is also used for the Leadership Academy, a faculty-led initiative that provides business training and certification for business leaders in Central Arkansas.
