Policy Name: Radiation Safety
Policy Number: LR 701.28
Effective Date: September 27, 2024

Policy

In efforts to comply with the objectives of the Arkansas Department of Health’s Radiation Control Section, the UALR academic institutional radiation license, and the requirements set forth for/by the Radiation Safety Officer, the UA at Little Rock (UALR) campus will maintain a Radiation Safety Manual (Manual). This manual is not intended to be an exhaustive or fully comprehensive reference, but rather a guide for authorized users or other technically qualified individuals. If a topic is not covered in this Manual, requirements expressly written in the Arkansas DOH Radiation Control Section, will be applied.

While the Manual authorizes UALR’s use of radionuclides, its purpose is also to create an environment as free as possible from recognized radiation hazards that cause or are likely to cause harm.
