Merit Scholarship Deadline Extension: Freshmen and Transfer Merit Scholarships

UA Little Rock is excited to announce that the deadline for freshman academic merit scholarships as well as incoming transfer students scholarships is extended to August 1, 2020. This extension does not include mentored scholarship programs nor private scholarships. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships for more information.

Private Scholarship Money for Students

Students, if you currently have a UA Little Rock private scholarship, it may be renewable. Please reapply using Trojan SMART. The deadline for returning and first-time applications is April 1. Each private scholarship is made possible through the generosity of UA Little Rock donors committed to the promise of our student body.

CAMPUS DINING

Trojan Cafe Transitioning to Take-Out Service 

Effective Friday, March 20, 2020, Sodexo is closing the Trojan Cafe for in-person dining and is transitioning to take-out service only. Please visit https://ualr.sodexomyway.com/ for more details. You may also text TROJANOPEN to 82257 any time for a list of hours and locations.

CAMPUS LIVING

Food Pantry over Spring Break.

The Trojan Food pantry will be open Monday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, during the week of spring break (March 23 to 26). If these hours are not convenient for you, an appointment can be scheduled using the Food Pantry appointment request form at ualr.edu/foodpantry.

FACULTY TIP OF THE DAY

Many publishers and professional societies are providing free access to online content to help universities support online learners. Ottenheimer Library has an Open Resource guide with a growing list of links to these free resources. Have suggestions, please send to Nicole Hensley (nmhensley@ualr.edu).

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Health Services Reminder 

If you are feeling unwell, contact your medical provider or call Health Services at 501-569-3188. If you have an emergency, call 911.

Health Services is providing phone-based health services Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Patients may contact Health Services during this time at 501-569-3188. Only after screening a patient’s issues via telephone, Health Services may ask patients to visit the office for in-person medical care and/or refer to another facility as needed.

For patients with questions about whether they may have COVID-19, UAMS HealthNow offers free screenings for all Arkansans. To access UAMS HealthNow, go to UAMSHealth.com/healthnow and click on the screening tool. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to individuals of all ages across the state of Arkansas and can be accessed from a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, and shortness of breath) or have had contact with someone KNOWN to have COVID-19, contact the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). ADH activated a call center to answer questions from health care providers and the public about the novel coronavirus. During normal business hours (8:00 am – 4:30 pm), urgent and non-urgent calls, please call 800-803-7847. After normal business hours, urgent calls needing immediate response, please call 501-661-2136.

The Fitness and Aquatics center is closed until further notice.

Employee Assistance Program

If you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious and/or depressed, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is here to help. The Employee Assistance Program office (Suite 601in the Freeway M-edical Tower, 5800 West 10th Street) is open for in-person therapy sessions. Call EAP at 501-686-2588 for more information. In compliance with policy, all staff, clients, and visitors will be screened for COVID-19 before entering.

The EAP is also providing televideo sessions to employees via a secure and private link. Employees can use the EAP’s new platform to schedule video, telephone or in-person sessions. It includes a feature to remind employees of appointments by text or e-mail.

TECHNOLOGY ACCESS

WiFi Access. We are opening parking lots 1 and 9 effective immediately for WiFi access from vehicles.

Using Hangouts Meet for remote meetings or classes? IT Services will keep you informed on our website about features and changes to the Hangouts Meet service.

TRAVEL AND STUDY ABROAD

Summer Study Abroad Canceled

All summer study abroad trips are canceled at this time. Additional information will be provided by the Office of Study Abroad in the near future.

REMINDER

The Office of Communications and Marketing must approve all UA Little Rock messaging regarding COVID-19. This includes announcements to employees, students, or the community. If you have an announcement to be included in the COVID-19 daily digest, the announcement should have vice chancellor approval and should be sent to Jeff Harmon at jwharmon@ualr.edu by 1 p.m. each day. If you have questions about what constitutes an appropriate announcement, please work with a member of the communications team.

At this time, please refrain from posting event modifications or office closings to university listservs without the appropriate vice chancellor approval.
