To promote sportsmanship and to encourage greater participation within Science Olympiad, Arkansas Science Olympiad has adopted the following policy concerning team placement at tournaments.
- In the event that there are 3 or more schools in a division at a tournament and a school has multiple teams at a tournament, then only the highest placing team from that school is eligible for the top three positions at that tournament. All other of that school’s teams will be ranked fourth place or below based on their score.As an example suppose that school A has 3 teams, and schools B and C have one team each. Suppose that the overall scores are as follows:

A2 and A3 would be awarded fourth- and fifth-place respectively.
- If there are 2 schools and at least 3 teams, then the first-place and the second-place trophies will go to two different schools while the third-place trophy will be awarded to the second team from the school with two teams.
