Tamika Edwards Joins Federal Reserve Board

Tamika S. Edwards, a native of Little Rock, AR, serves as Director of Public Policy for Southern Bancorp Community Partners.

As Director of Public Policy, Edwards leads public policy efforts that support Southern’s three transformational goals of reducing poverty, decreasing unemployment and increasing educational attainment and that enhance Southern’s community development and family economic security direct services  in Arkansas and Mississippi.  Whether it is managing and implementing public policy strategies or cultivating relationships with policy makers and other advocates, her work helps reinforce Southern’s commitment to build communities and change lives. 

Prior to joining Southern, Edwards served in the Office of U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln for nearly eleven years, ending her career there as a Community Affairs Specialist.  During her time with Senator Lincoln, Edwards worked with municipalities and community organizations to identify resources to further community and economic development efforts and served as the Senator’s grassroots representative to elected officials, community leaders, and other constituent groups.

Edwards earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), a Master’s degree in Professional and Technical Writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), and a Juris Doctor from the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. 

Her community leadership includes the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis’ Community Development Advisory Council, Arkansas Children’s Hospital Board of Directors, UALR Alumni Association Board of Directors, Friends of Mosaic Templars Board of Directors, and Delta Trust & Bank Women’s Advisory Council.  Edwards is a member of Leadership Greater Little Rock Class XX, Leadership Arkansas Class I, the Junior League of Little Rock and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  In 2010, Edwards was recognized on Arkansas Business’ 40 under 40 list of “intriguing business and political leaders under 40 years old.”

She resides in Little Rock with her husband and daughter.
