The bachelor of fine arts in art / art education track prepares students for licensure to teach art at the kindergarten through secondary school level as well as allowing these students to develop a BFA fine art or applied design emphasis. The BFA in Art / Art Education Track is designed to provide a strong studio and art history background while fulfilling the requirements for Arkansas Licensure for the Art K-8 and Art 7-12 teaching areas. Students develop digital teaching portfolios and use a variety of interactive technology for classroom assignments. During art education and teacher education courses, students visit a variety of elementary, middle and senior high school art programs. University students participate in teaching assignments in elementary and secondary art classrooms.

The art education track requires a minor in Secondary Education.

For a complete list of degree requirements for the BFA in Art/Art Education Track as well as course descriptions, you can view a PDF version of the Undergraduate Catalog at this link.

Note: No grade less than C will be accepted in any art course required within any art major or minor. The undraped human figure is a significant subject within the studio art and art history curriculum.
