Jeannie Hulen is co-owner of Hulen/Posnak Studios in West Fork, AR and heads the ceramics program at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She received her MFA degree in ceramics from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA and BFA degree from Kansas City Art Institute. Hulen exhibits her work nationally and has received numerous awards and grants for exhibitions, research and teaching.

Jeannie Hulen’s art work incorporates slip casting processes with mix media to create dynamic and challenging installation work. She states, “Clay is central to my concepts and the processes by which I work, but I use various materials for their specific content, visual pleasure and on occasion pure humor. The Bedpan component of the series is recast and reconfigured antique bedpans and urinals, which are used to discuss trans-gender/sexual issues MTF (male to female) and FTM (female to male). Additionally, some of the objects visually explore sexuality, sensuality, transformations of the body, reproduction, pregnancy or gestation, birth, delivery and infant development.”

All events are free and open to the public.
