Assessment Central

Academic Assessment

UALR’s current core curriculum is based on the ten essential Blue Ribbon competencies and serves as the general education requirement for all baccalaureate students. Each course in the University’s core curriculum is assessed each year by the department in which the course is taught, by the college and by a campus-wide assessment committee, the Provost Assessment Advisory Group (PAAG).

Each academic program’s faculty has reached a consensus about their program’s mission, goals, and learning objectives of the program. Every academic unit at UALR has an assessment process in place that is used to make decisions to improve its curriculum, instruction, and both academic and career advising. In that process, students, alumni, and various stakeholders participate in a variety of assessment activities designed to assess learning in the major, and in the core curriculum.
