The goal of the Colloquium is to showcase the synergistic interaction between chemistry, structural biology, pharmacology and bioinformatics in the process of drug development. Our aim is to promote the professional dialogue between students and experts from different disciplines interested in the processes of drug discovery and development. This conference provides a platform for under-graduate, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows to present their research. This conference will also include a professional development session, and provides great networking opportunities.
This chapter was initiated in May 2012 with the goal of enhancing educational, professional and employment opportunities for students and post-doctoral trainees in the pharmaceutical sciences. The chapter achieves this goal by organizing educational and professional activities that provide opportunities for networking, professional advancement and leadership development. As part of its activities the chapter applied and received a grant from the AAPS Student Initiated Programming to host the Drug Development Colloquium 2014 at Little Rock, AR. Â Currently the chapter draws membership from the bioinformatics, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology and toxicology, and physiology and biophysics programs from both UALR and UAMS.
