Educational Enrichment
Children International works side-by-side with schools, parents and partners to offer the following educational programs and benefits:
- School supplies
- Summer camps for elementary, middle and high school students
- After-school programs for more than 420 students at five Little Rock elementary schools
- Tutoring & Mentoring
- Peer Leadership Training and Community Service programs
Elementary After-school Programs
Kids’ Clubs, the after-school programs, are offered for 420 elementary students attending five Little Rock elementary schools from September through April. Students must be enrolled in UALR Children International and complete an application during school registration.
The after-school programs are filled with academic and enrichment activities to improve reading and math skills, build self-esteem and provide leadership opportunities. Certified teachers and one-on-one tutors on curricular-based literacy and math classes, field trips and community service projects.
Enrichment classes include: art, dance, gospel choir, stepping, Taekwondo and Kidz Biz. Students perform at local schools, churches and community events. Giving back is an important part of CI’s education programs. Students in after-school programs volunteer with local food banks, the Humane Society and various nonprofit organizations.
Mind Your Own Business Summer Camp
The Mind Your Own Business Summer Camp is held during June-July each year for 150 elementary students. Students create, market and implement their own business. During the last week of camp, students sell their products at the Little Rock River Market and donate the proceeds to a CI college scholarship fund.
