UALR is participating in the audio conference put on by AHEAD (Association on Higher Education and Disability) on Thursday, August 29, 2013, 2:00 – 3:30 pm in SSC 416A. This is designed for all postsecondary personnel. Please contact Sharon Downs if you’d like to attend! Here are the details:
On July 23, 2013 the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced a settlement agreement with Louisiana Tech University resolving a complaint about inaccessible course materials. This is the latest in recent collaborative efforts of regulatory and enforcement agencies as they interpret college campuses’ obligations under the ADA – e.g. UC Berkeley, South Carolina Technical College and others.
The time is now for your campus to evaluate the accessibility of your online and electronic instruction and services, and resolve barriers in your environments.
AHEAD President Scott Lissner will host a nationally-recognized panel of experts as they present important highlights of recent cases, discuss campus obligations for accessibility in online environments and give concrete steps you can take to review, plan and refine your online access policies and delivery methods. This is a training opportunity that you will want to invite faculty and administrators to.
AHEAD to You audioconferences include web-based real-time captioning, along with associated reference materials and log in information a week in advance of the event.
