1213FeatAOTY2Congratulations to Donaghey Scholars Program Alumna Georgia Mjartan on being named Arkansan of the Year by Arkansas Life! Mjartan, a Whitbeck Award winner at UALR, followed her time as a Donaghey Scholar by accepting a prestigious Mitchell Scholarship to study in Ireland, earning a master’s at the University of Ulster. Mjartan is now the executive director of Our House, Inc, which helps working homeless individuals and families with shelter, job training, child care, housing and summer youth programs. Our House serves more than 1,000 people annually and has been recognized nationally. Since Mjartan became executive director eight years ago, the nonprofit has tripled its operating income and in-kind giving; doubled the number of people it serves; and conducted two successful capital campaigns. In July, they broke ground on a 20,000-square-foot facility to house a children’s and youth programs. Congratulations, Georgia!
