Summer 2013 internship
There are two openings for 40-hour-a-week internships. Pay is $15 an hour and free housing is provided (but students aren’t required to live there).
Students majoring in systems engineering or either engineering technology option are eligible to apply.
Job Description: Projects will be plant-specific and tailored to each student’s strengths. Possible areas in which a student may be engaged: Support Green Belt, Black Belt, proficiency projects as needed (i.e. data collection/analysis, gather feedback from operators), complete short improvement projects or kaizen events, attend engineering meetings/planning sessions, attend and report out at Lean Sigma Council Meetings, perform time studies and set incentive rates, reduce cycle time, improve machine efficiency, reduce various types of scrap and waste in a process, new process and product trials.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have finished his or her second year of study. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have a good foundation of engineering theory. The ideal candidate must be a team player and have the ability to take a leadership role and empower others.
