Faculty Development Workshops

There are lots of great workshops being conducted in the coming months, for both WebCT and non-WebCT users. Check out the latest workshops and register online.

WebCT Changes

UALR now has two WebCT servers: a Development Server and a Live Server. So... what's the difference and what does that mean to YOU? Take a moment to look at the table below, and become enlightened! There's even a diagram, for the more visual learner.

DEVELOPMENT SERVER
versus
LIVE SERVER
  • Course shells created at the request of instructor. (Request form is available at: http://online.ualr.edu/prpearce/request.shtml)

  • No students ever loaded.

  • Course shells and all contents remain, until instructor requests removal (to get a course shell deleted, call STaR at 569-8954 or email star@ualr.edu).

  • What it's good for: developing a new course for an upcoming semester, working on an old course over a period of several semesters, restoring a course to settle a grade dispute, or just learning WebCT.
  • URL: webct.ualr.edu

  • Course shells automatically created each semester, one for each class section in Banner.

  • Students automatically loaded into course from Banner each day during the drop/add period.

  • Course shells and all contents removed at the end of each semester.

  • What it's good for: teaching an online or a web-enhanced course.
