Job description/duties: Work in the fine arts galleries.

Having physical strength and stamina:
lifting, moving, and holding (during installation and de-installation) artworks;
upwards of 25lbs and heavier
moving shipping crates, display cases, and Plexi-Glas display tops
walking artwork across campus and installing artwork in offices across campus as part of the Permanent Collection Loan Program

Handling artwork:
installation and de-installation of exhibitions in three galleries
unpacking and packing of 2D and 3D artwork
walking artwork across campus and installing artwork in offices across campus as part of the Permanent Collection Loan Program

Working with tools:
experience with hand-held or electric tools isn’t expected, but you will be expected to become comfortable using both

basic math skills will be used during the installation of art in the galleries and across campus
basic collections management
primary: paper files
secondary: digital data

Maintenance of three galleries:
spackle and painting
vacuuming
sweeping
cleaning glass
adjusting lighting (at arm’s reach, with a 6 ft. ladder and a 12 ft. ladder)
gallery sitting when necessary

Job location: Fine Arts Galleries

Job qualifications: Willingness to learn is a must with this job.
You must also be able to work well with others, at times you will be interacting with; studio art students, art faculty, visiting artists, fine arts staff, and campus staff.
