Track teams compete in California

The UALR men and women’s track and field competed at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival and the Stanford Invitational over the weekend.

At the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, Sanna Mustonen won the women’s 1,500-meter run in 4:34.67. Her time ranks fourth all-time at UALR and was a meet record for the event.

Johnny Purvis placed eighth in the men’s 5,000-meter run with 14:40.80.

At the Stanford Invitational, Demond Burns placed fourth in the men’s 100-meter dash with 10.46 and eighth in the men’s 200-meter dash with 21.43.

Taron Dunn won the men’s triple jump with a distance of 14.70m, second all-time at UALR. Dunn also placed seventh in the men’s long jump with 6.87m.

“We performed well across the board,” coach Milton Williams said.

The track teams travel to Conway, Ark. and will compete at the UCA Relays Saturday, April 2.
