Blue jeans and Birkenstocks
The Community Advisory Board will be sponsoring Blue Jeans and Birkenstocks at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at the Pleasant Valley Country Club.
Blue Jeans and Birkenstocks is an annual event that has raised more than $100,000 for the Rebecca Fuller Ward Endowed Scholarship.
The event will feature a Mexican buffet, a silent auction, dancing, a cash bar, and live music by Lagniappe. The silent auction consists of decorative items, jewelry, restaurant certificates, and art.
The purpose of this event is to raise money for the Bachelor’s of Social Work Program. “As we grow, the needs for scholarships grow. This is an important event for the future of School of Social Work,” said Stasia Myers, this year’s event chair. She has worked on the UALR’s School of social Work Community Advisory Board and has headed Blue Jeans and Birkenstocks silent auction for several years. She is also a licensed certified social worker with a Master’s of Social Work from UALR.
“From that living room we began an event that brings together alumni, friends, and supporters of the School of Social Work,” said Howard M. Turney, director of the School of Social Work. “Our first event was held at the Oyster Bar. We quickly outgrew that event. Now we have an overwhelming response.”
The tickets are $50 per person or a table of 10 is $500. To purchase tickets, contact Angela Elizandro at 501-683-7501 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
