Homecoming events approaching
Homecoming week will kick-off with a Mardi Gras party on Tuesday, Feb. 21 and conclude when the Trojans take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Jack Stephens Center.
Each year, one student organization is recognized for their outstanding spirit during Homecoming activities. In addition to the most spirited organization, one fan is recognized for their Trojan pride. Fans will be judged during the Men’s game Feb. 25. To be qualified for this award, the fan must be enrolled as a student at UALR. The most spirited fan will also be recognized with a trophy and $300 monetary award.
The Mardi Gras celebration kick-off will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Donaghey Student Center Upper Concourse and is sponsored by the University Program Council. The 2nd Annual cardboard boat races will take place in the DSC Aquatic Center at noon. Entry deadline is Friday, Feb. 17. Forms are available in the Campus Recreation Office or by emailing Rodolfo Morales at firstname.lastname@example.org. This is the second year for the boat races.
Voting will take place for Homecoming Queen on Feb. 22 and 23 in the foyer of the DSC. Voting opens at 10 a.m. and concludes at 6 p.m. each day. Only enrolled students are eligible to vote, and the student must be present to do so.
Homecoming Queen candidates are be sponsored by registered organizations. Basic requirements for the candidates included a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA, at least 30 hours completed at UALR, full-time enrollment and good standing with the university. To achieve the best that UALR has to offer for the awards and benefits provided in the homecoming event, UALR requires these criteria to provide the benefits for the best candidate.
