Trojans take series opener

Junior Chance Cleveland continued his hot streak as the Trojans defeated the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky 3-1 on Friday, March 30, in Bowling Green, Ky. 

Cleveland struck out 11 batters in seven innings of work and surrendered one run on four hits while walking just three batters. The win pushes his record to 6-1 on the season. He currently leads the Sun Belt Conference in strikeouts and wins.

UALR (16-10, 3-4 SBC) struck early as senior Sean Bignall hit a double to lead off the top of the second inning and was plated by a single to left off the bat of junior Blake Johnson.

Freshman Cameron Allen came on to pitch the final two innings and earned his first save as a Trojan.

The Trojans play game two of the series on Saturday at 3 p.m. They return home on Tuesday, April 3 to play Oral Roberts at 6 p.m. at Gary Hogan Field.
