Intramural soccer ends in an exciting playoff game

Ending the intramural soccer season on Oct. 22, Chi Alpha and Cannon placed first for the regular season for Co-Rec and Men’s divisions. Chi Alpha was undefeated (5-0) in the Co-Rec division and Cannon made it through the season without a loss (4-0-1).

In the Co-Rec playoffs, Chi Alpha, Donaghey, Greek Grass Kickers and Grass Kickers all battled on Nov. 3. Chi Alpha played Donaghey and after two halves Donaghey couldn’t score against Chi Alpha. The final score was 3-0. The Greek Grass Kickers and the Grass Kickers faced off and the Grass Kickers did not score either. The Greek Grass Kickers won with a score of 2-0.

On Nov. 4, Chi Alpha and the Greek Grass Kickers played in the final game of the playoffs. Both teams scored several points, but Chi Alpha could not keep up with the Greek Grass Kickers. The Greek Grass Kickers became the Co-Rec soccer playoff champions when they won 4-3.

In the Men’s division, Cannon, Delta Chi and Friends, Panther and Pike earned spots in the playoffs. Cannon faced Delta Chi and Friends in the first round and Cannon beat Delta Chi and Friends (2-1). Panther and Pike also faced off, but Panther was not able to score against Pike. Pike won with a final score of 1-0.

In the championship game of the playoffs, Cannon and Pike fought for a victory. Both teams battled hard the entire game, but Pike was not able to score against Cannon. Cannon won 1-0 and became the Men’s soccer playoff champions.
