The UALR/Pulaski County Law library, located on the first floor of the William H. Bowen School of Law, is open to the public. Most of our resources are available to any library user. The Law Library is a depository for federal and Arkansas government documents.
Reference
The Reference Desk is located in the Law Library reading room on the first floor. Reference librarians are available to answer basic questions and to help you locate materials. Hours vary by semester. While librarians are prohibited from giving legal advice or interpreting legal materials, other types of assistance are available. Reference librarians may:
- help library users locate Law Library resources and materials
- instruct in the use of electronic resources such as the online catalog
- help you figure out legal citations
- suggest appropriate sources and research strategies
- refer users to other libraries or institutions when needed
Some questions are best researched in the law library. We may ask you to come to the law library to pursue your research here. The reference desk phone number is 501.324.9970.
Electronic Resources
Computers are available to the public for legal research purposes, subject to our Acceptable Use Policy. The Law Library provides access to Westlaw/Keycite, Shepard’s and many other legal databases. A printer is available – copies are 20¢ per page. Ask a reference librarian for assistance with these resources.
Circulation
Library materials do not circulate outside the library to the public. Reserve materials may be checked out for in-library use. Any printed materials may be photocopied.
Document Delivery
If you have a specific citation our document delivery service will copy almost anything in the library collection for you. Material is delivered by fax or mail, or may be picked up at the circulation desk. Document delivery is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Charges for this service vary. Contact Jeff Woodmansee at 501.324.9991 for pricing information or to place an order.
Interlibrary Loan
The Library does not offer ILL Services to the general public. Reference librarians can assist you in locating materials you need at another local library or help you obtain the information you need to make an ILL request at the public library.
Food and Drink Policy
Snack foods (but no meals, please) and drinks are allowed in all library areas except the computer labs and book stacks. Please clean up and report any spills to library staff immediately. Please “pack it in, pack it out,” disposing of all food and beverage refuse outside the library. The use of all tobacco products is prohibited in the library.
