Steven Lopata took chemical engineering at the University of Kansas. He joined the U.S. Army and served with a combat engineering company in Vietnam. When he left the Army, he completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Southern Colorado, then worked as a design engineer, technical service director and finally director of Latin American operations for a small paint company in St. Louis. On retiring, he taught for two years at LOGOS, then moved to California. He left California for Little Rock and trained tigers at Safari Park until it went out of business. He was awarded a Doctorate of Divinity by the Universal Life Church. During his time in St. Louis and Little Rock, university libraries played an important part in his research. He hopes to give back the support he received.
