Kristen McIntyre, Ph.D.

Dr. Kristen McIntyre is a Professor of Applied Communication and Director of the COMM 10073: Intro to Communication Program as well as the Director of the Communication Skills Center at UA Little Rock. Her work focuses on communication education and experiential learning training. Across her roles as an educator, scholar, administrator, and mentor, she is especially interested in public speaking, service-learning, communication center tutoring, and student-centered assessment. She also serves as UA Little Rock’s Provost’s Faculty Fellow in Assessment.

McIntyre’s research centers on communication education, experiential learning, and curriculum design. Grounded in an Integrated Scholar-Educator Model, her scholarship operationalizes Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle through the ALMA template and community-based “casing” frameworks. Her work evaluates required service-learning, democratic pedagogy, and competency-based assessment. Additionally, she’s investigated communication center tutoring practices, textbook diversity, and the qualitative depth of digital student evaluations.
