Undergraduate Advising

Regular Advising starts about three weeks before course enrollment.

All students must have an advising meeting every semester or have their courses approved by their advisor via email.

Flags are not raised without a meeting or an email exchange that confirms what the student will be taking.  If you are a double-major, the last major advisor who advises you will lift your advising flag.

If you have any questions about advising appointments, please call 501-916-3158 or email Dr. April Chatham-Carpenter, or make an appointment with her at this link.

Steps for Undergraduate Advising

  1. Review courses available on Workday Student (review Slides for help with this step if needed)
  2. Complete this google form
  3. Make an appointment with your advisor (or email them with the classes you’d like to take)
  4. Enroll in classes as soon as you can (See Academic Calendar on the university website, find the correct semester and click on REGISTRATION DATES to see when you are eligible to enroll – it is by class rank.)

Graduate Student Advising

Near the end of your first graduate semester, you will be assigned a project advisor, but the program coordinator works with each student to create their degree plan prior to their first graduate course.

Advising emails are also sent out well in advance of each semester with details on what courses to sign up for.

Zoom advising appointments are always available with the graduate coordinator as well. If you’re an Applied Communication graduate student, call 501-916-3158 or email Dr. Bailey Blackburn to set up an appointment.
