The Co-op Process

Step 1: Complete the online Co-op Position Request Form.

Step 2: The cooperative education coordinator will notify you as soon as possible whether or not you have been approved to do a co-op.

Step 3: If approved to do a co-op, you will enroll in the Cooperative Education course.

Step 4: Once enrolled, immediately notify the cooperative education coordinator of your enrollment. Important: If you do not notify the coordinator of your enrollment, you will not receive a co-op course syllabus or be added to the Cooperative Education Google Classroom.

Step 5: After you have notified the Cooperative Education Coordinator of your enrollment,  you will be added to the Cooperative Education Google Classroom, and a co-op course syllabus will be emailed to you containing the following assignments you will be required to complete:

  • Learning Agreement Form & Paper
  • Student Pre-Assessment
  • Co-op Student Questionnaire
  • Student Post Assessment
  • Learning Outcomes Paper
  • Exit Interview Form (This information is for recordkeeping purposes.)

Please be advised: The faculty co-op advisor may assign additional coursework, which is not included in the Cooperative Education Google Classroom. It is your responsibility to coordinate with your faculty co-op advisor on how to receive and submit any extra assignments.

Important: Speak to your work supervisor about earning academic credit for your work. Your work supervisor will be required to complete a Supervisor Pre-Assessment, Co-op Employer Questionnaire, and Supervisor Post Assessment of your work performance. Over the course of the semester or term, the cooperative education coordinator will email the paperwork to your work supervisor.

Step 6: At the end of the semester or term, the cooperative education coordinator will compile your co-op assignments, along with your work supervisor’s paperwork, into an academic packet which will be emailed to the faculty co-op advisor to grade.
