2015 marked the 17th consecutive year for Trojan Fest! The staff of Health Promotion, Programs and Education (HPPE) joined with numerous campus departments to offer this social, interactive and educational event which promotes fun without the use of alcohol and other drugs.
Over 500 people participated (267 individuals submitted evaluations).
The new head men’s basketball coach, Chris Beard, contacted HPPE about participating in the event so he could personally meet more of the students.
Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency (ARORA) co-sponsored the event and provided an in-kind contribution consisting of the Mexican-themed food from UALR’s catering vendor, SODEXO, and Trojan Fest t-shirts for all attendees. This contribution amounted to approximately $4,000.
A representative from The Minority Health Commission also participated in the event. This collaboration resulted in the Minority Health Commission offering to sponsor future events at UALR and to provide information about grant opportunities.
45% of those completing an evaluation stated that as a result of this event,
they plan to change their behaviors regarding alcohol and other drugs.
