Those who are receiving a flu shot should dress for easy access to the upper arm by wearing short sleeves.
The flu vaccine offered through Health Services is FLUARIX quadrivalent, which is created without preservatives and does not contain thimerosal. This vaccine protects against H1N1, H3N2, B/Victoria lineage, and B-Yamagata lineage.
Those with health insurance should bring their insurance card to their appointment. Most insurance companies cover 100 percent of the cost of the flu vaccines with no copay, co-insurance, or any out-of-pocket expense. If your insurance does not cover the flu vaccine, you will not be charged. Those without insurance will receive the vaccine at no cost as well.
Anyone who is 65 and older and would like to take the FLUZONE High-Dose Quadrivalent vaccine must schedule an appointment with Health Services by calling 501-916-3188. The high-dose shots will not be available at the Oct. 13 clinic.
