Eduroam wireless roaming service available at UA Little Rock

In addition, visiting faculty, staff, and students from other eduroam institutions can use our eduroam wireless network. Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. The eduroam service allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions.

Connectivity is established by simply opening their phone, laptop, tablet, or other device and joining the eduroam service. More than 10,000 eduroam hotspots are available at universities, research centers, academies, many schools, and other research and education institutions in more than 100 territories around the world.

Wherever you see ‘eduroam’ appear in your list of wireless networks, you can get online.

Please note when your wireless-enabled device scans our network, you may see a different network name depending on your location. See Wireless Networks for additional information for each network SSID (i.e. network names) including How-to Articles with instructions for joining your devices.

UA Little Rock wireless network SSIDs:

  • UALR-WiFi for the highest security and fastest connectivity for students, faculty, and staff. UALR-WiFi is for all laptops, smart phones, tablets, and all computing devices that understand 802.1x protocols. This is the preferred wireless network.
  • UALR-IoT is for Internet of Things (IoT) type devices that cannot connect with your email address login and password, such as older game consoles, older multimedia streaming devices, TVs, and other technologies that don’t support 802.1x, or have limited capabilities such as no web browser.
  • UALR-Guest is only for people without a @ualr.edu email account. UALR-Guest is slower, filtered, limited-access, and has no security or encryption. Limited to 24-hours, this wireless network only provides basic web access to the Internet. Students, faculty, and staff should never use this network. No university-owned institutional devices should ever be connected to this wireless network. This is for visitors only.
  • eduroam is only for visitors from other colleges and universities around the country and world that are members of eduroam. When you are off-campus and travel, you can securely connect for free at more than 10,000 roaming locations around the world using your @ualr.edu email address login.
