Henderson State University has joined the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law Pathway Program offering qualified students who attend Henderson a direct path to law school at the Bowen School of Law.
“We have a proud tradition of Henderson State University Students attending the Bowen School of Law,” Dr. Trey Berry, Chancellor at Henderson, said. “We are excited to strengthen this relationship by joining the pathway program, and we are grateful for the opportunities that this will create for our graduates as they prepare for careers of service in their communities.”
As outlined in the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two institutions, students who have earned a bachelor’s degree from Henderson with a grade point average of 3.40 or higher, scored 154 or higher on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) within the previous five years, demonstrate good character and have no issues that would hinder admission to the bar, qualify for the program.
“This program helps to eliminate the stress and uncertainty of the law school admissions process for eligible students,” said Andrew Whall, assistant dean for admissions at Bowen. “It gives prospective students a goal to aim for; knowing that admission is guaranteed by meeting a certain benchmark is a big advantage for students attending colleges and universities that have partnered with us.”
The undergraduate university is the 13th higher education institution in the state to join the law school’s program and the 10th institution to sign an agreement this academic year, more than tripling the number of participating institutions from the previous academic year.
“This collaboration not only benefits the William H. Bowen School of Law but also contributes to the broader goal of increasing the number of skilled legal professionals in Arkansas,” says Bowen Law School Dean, Colin Crawford. “Our shared commitment to facilitating access to legal education is a positive step towards building a more robust legal workforce, ultimately serving the needs of our communities and enhancing the overall legal landscape in the state.”
The Bowen School of Law aims to provide similar opportunities to as many eligible prospective students within the state of Arkansas through the expansion of its pathway programs.
