Professor Beaird has a broad acquaintance with the creation, dissemination and preservation of information and knowledge. He served as law librarian at the University of Mississippi in the late 1970s, then left to go into legal publishing. He founded the Austin, Texas division of Butterworth Publishing Company, then was promoted to vice president for Government and Library Relations. When Butterworth’s parent company purchased Michie Publishers, he became deputy director of Code Publications and Development. After almost two decades in legal publishing, he returned to legal education in 1997 by accepting a position as deputy director at St. John’s University. He joined the UA Little Rock faculty in 1998 and taught Legal Research before assuming emeritus status in 2006. Professor Beaird was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1976.
