Photo of Professor J. Douglas CortesJ. Douglas Cortés, J.D., LL.M., is the Director of the Business Innovations Clinic and a visiting assistant professor of clinical education at UA Little Rock Bowen School of Law where he also teaches Bankruptcy Law.

Doug clerked for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Michael Lynn in Fort Worth for two years before going into private practice representing debtors, creditors, and trustees in business and consumer bankruptcy and state court cases. He returned home to central Arkansas in 2016 and eventually landed at the Center for Arkansas Legal Services where he represented consumers in chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy cases for three years prior to joining the faculty at Bowen Law School. Doug has a B.S. in Liberal Arts with an “area of concentration” in Business Administration, a J.D., and an LL.M. in Energy Law.

He is also particularly fascinated with travel, history, and theology.
