My life goal is to be a bioinformatician. I am passionate about what I do when it comes to education and my career goals. I am very determined and dedicated towards what I want to do in life. This can be proven, since I gave away my high school years to instead go to college and get my associates degree by joining the collegiate academy. I only had one year just as a normal high school student and even then there was COVID. I knew that I would have to give up my extracurricular classes, however my education was worth it. My overall goal is to get my doctorial degree. I am very confident that I can get there if I stay dedicated and determined.

Hello! My name is Mariela, and I am a junior at UA Little Rock. I am a double major in Environmental Geology and Spanish. I’m also a Learning Assistant with the Geology department. I do research with Dr. Laura Ruhl in Fourche Creek, located in Little Rock, Ar. I enjoy climbing Pinnacle Mountain, Rattlesnake Ridge, and kayaking through the Little Maumelle River in my free time. I’m always excited for a new day, knowing that I will learn something new about Earth’s physical structure and history. One piece of advice I give myself: Schist happens, but it all improves with a smile on your face!
