Songwriter Showcase celebrates resident composer’s 35th year of teaching

Robert Boury

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will premiere new music by students, songwriters from the community, and resident composer Robert Boury during the 30th annual Songwriters Showcase.

The free program starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Building.

The subjects of the compositions are diverse and colorful. From David Jukes’ optimistic alto pep-talk, to Susan Gail Robbins’ mysterious etudes, the evening will show creative minds in action at UALR.

Other composers and songwriters scheduled to contribute include Sarah Hastings, Alex Hampo, Chris Loper, and Mallory Baker.

Charles Law, UALR Percussion Ensemble director, will premiere Robert Boury’s “Golden Apples of the Sun” on vibraphone, celebrating Boury’s 35th year of teaching at UALR.

Parking will be available in Lot 8 behind the UALR Fine Arts Building.
