UA Little Rock to host disaster relief concert for Puerto Rico
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of Music is partnering with the American Red Cross to hold a disaster relief concert benefiting the people of Puerto Rico affected by Hurricanes Maria and Irma.
The concert will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the UA Little Rock Fine Arts Building. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted before and after the concert to benefit the people of Puerto Rico.
The concert will include performances by UA Little Rock faculty and students, including the UA Little Rock Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Trombone Quartet, and Piano Ensemble.
UA Little Rock music students performing in the concert include Hannah Blacklaw, mezzo soprano; Emily Mellor, Kyra Hatley, and Jill Armstrong, soprano; JaColby Crossley and Daniel Morris, baritone; Jean Silva, Jeanette Hamilton, Alex Rupert, Michael Caysido, and Eri Okawa, piano; Melissa Legendre, David Burkhalter, and Ryan Wilder, trombone.
UA Little Rock Faculty performing in the concert include Linda Holzer, Naoki Hakutani, and Leann Hatley, piano; Emery Stephens, baritone; and Rolf Groesbeck, tabla.
