The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Middle Eastern studies program and English Department’s Visiting Writer Series, have joined forces to host an evening with Moustafa Bayoumi, author of “This Muslim American Life: Dispatches from the War on Terror.”

Bayoumi is set to speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Arkansas Studies Institute, 401 President Clinton Ave. in Little Rock.

Bayoumi is a professor of English at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, and an award-winning author. In 2015, he was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters by Southern Vermont College.

For his most recently released work, “This Muslim American Life: Dispatches from the War on Terror,” he was honored with the Arab American Book Award for Non-Fiction. For his novel, “How Does It Feel To Be a Problem: Being Young and Arab in America,” he won the same award as well as the American Book Award. Much of his work has been featured in major publications, including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and The Nation.
