Dr. Tom Tudor, professor of management, has been awarded a $2,500 UALR Middle Eastern Studies grant to research how to better attract Muslim customers into the U.S. banking system. Dr. Tudor has published 35 research publications throughout his career and has received more than $45,000 in grants to support his research.
Dr. Lars Powell, associate professor and Whitbeck-Beyer Chair of Insurance and Financial Services, was appointed to the editorial board of the new international journal, Insurance Markets and Companies: Analyses, and Actuarial Computations.
Dr. Michael Pakko, chief economist and state economic forecaster at the Institute for Economic Advancement in the College of Business, coauthored a manuscript “Monetary Policy and Natural Disasters in a DSGE Model” that has been accepted for publication in the Southern Economic Journal.
Dr. Gary Geisler and Dr. Steve Edison, both professors of marketing and advertising, were accepted to make a presentation in the Cengage Pride/Ferrell Innovations in Teaching Competition at the Society for Marketing Advances conference in Atlanta in November. The competition winner will be invited to publish an elaboration of the innovation in the winter issue of Marketing Education Review.
Five UALR students studying international business will receive $500 scholarships from Advancing Management Education (AME), a giving circle supporting the College of Business.
Dr. Lars Powell, UALR’s Whitbeck Chair of Economics and Finance, has been appointed editor of the Journal of Insurance Regulation, a publication of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Dr. Anthony F. Chelte, dean of UALR’s College of Business, has been appointed mentor for two schools that are pursuing initial accreditation with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The schools are Western Connecticut State University Ansel School of Business and Advancia-Negocia in Paris.
Dr. Roger Dorsey, professor of accounting, has learned his manuscript “Tax Policy, the Two Kingdoms, and Judeo-Christian Ethic,” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Accounting, Ethics, and Public Policy.
“This innovative work adds a very interesting ethical perspective to traditional tax policy analysis,” said Dr. Robert Oliva, chair of the Department of Accounting.
A team of graduate students who work for the Institute for Economic Advancement in the UALR College of Business is one of five teams in the country selected by Microsoft this spring to compete in the company’s Imagine Cup Software Development Initiative National Finals next month.
