In efforts to comply with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) standards found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and the regulation of University activities by the Arkansas Department of Labor, the UALR campus will maintain a Workplace Safety Manual (Manual). The Manual is not intended to be an exhaustive or fully comprehensive reference, but rather a guide for authorized workers or other qualified individuals. If a topic is not covered in this Manual, requirements expressly written in OSHA and Arkansas DOL standards, will be applied.
The Manual’s purpose is to help departments comply with OSHA standards and to provide to UALR employees with the proper guidelines to prevent workplace accidents, to create an overall awareness of the hazards of the job, as well as to offer guidelines for safe work practices. In addition, the Manual will provide requirements designed to ensure that the collective safety and health of students and employees remain of primary importance.
