Dear Campus Community,
Here is an update on the work the Office of Communications and Marketing web team is doing to continue progress toward the redesigned university website. We’re about a month into the launch of the new site search tool and are seeing great improvements. We will continuously monitor its functionality and look for ways to enhance our site’s search results.
We’re continuing to partner with departments to conduct content audits and updates of their websites. All web content (text, images, tables, etc.) must be reviewed and updated now. That way, when the new site is built we can migrate the content and more efficiently utilize the new look and functionality.
A content audit involves reviewing every page on a site to see if any information should be removed, combined, and/or rewritten. It’s also important to make sure the information is written in an appropriate tone and for the correct audience. The website is often the first place our stakeholders go to seek out information, and we strive to provide accurate and relevant information, particularly, to our current and future students.
The university redesign site has more information about how you can get started reviewing your site.
At the end of a site’s content audit, each page will have been updated or removed, the menus will be improved, and new imagery will be added. The overall look will not change until the new site is built.
We are here to help you during this process. We appreciate those who have worked diligently to examine their site and given us feedback as we reorganized and edited pages. Here are a couple of before and afters:
Content Audit Before and Afters:
