Scholarships for New Incoming Freshmen

As an incoming freshmen at UA Little Rock, you’re making some pretty important life decisions right now. To make everything a little bit easier, we created a breakdown of our scholarships for incoming freshmen like you. 

Institutional scholarships for incoming freshmen at UA Little Rock are divided into three categories: Academic Merit, Mentored, and Early Trojans. There are even scholarships for out-of-state entering freshmen!

Mark your calendars!

  • Apply for admission by August 2, 2021, to be considered for any of our institutional awards, except for mentoring programs!
  • Complete the Trojan SMART application(s) by March 1, 2021, for mentoring program and private scholarship consideration.

Fall 2021 Entering Freshmen Students

Only 1 award from each of the 3 categories below may be combined based on eligibility.

Category 1: Academic Merit

UA Little Rock Academic Achievement
  • $3,000 tuition and fees
  • $1,000 on-campus housing
  • Up to 4 years awarded

Freshman Award

Category 2: Mentored Programs

This is a highly selective honors program enrolling 25 new scholars each year. Open to all majors.

  • Essay(s) and recommendation letters also required.
  • Not stackable with other institutional scholarships.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Academic Scholarship
  • $6,000
  • Up to 4 years awarded
28-36 3.5
  • Must major in an undergraduate STEM program.
  • Must live on campus first two years.
  • Minimum 2.50 GPA and 19+ ACT: competitively awarded based on academics, leadership, and STEM-based activities.

  • Up to 4 years awarded

Chancellor’s Leadership Corps Scholarship Program
  • $2,000 tuition and fees
  • $2,000 on-campus housing
  • Up to 4 years awarded
  • Highly competitive based on academics, leadership, activities, and community involvement.
  • 3.00 GPA PLUS an ACT score of 19+ OR Next Gen Accuplacer score of 246+ in each section of Writing, Reading, and Math.
EAST Scholars
  • $3,000 tuition and fees
  • $1,000 on-campus housing
  • Up to 4 years awarded
19+ 3.0
  • One year high school EAST participation.
  • Arkansas resident.
Category 3: Early Trojans
Scholarship yearly Award criteria
Trojan Pathway
  • $3,000
  • 1-year max
Must be a Trojan Pathway participant from one of UA Little Rock’s partner schools and have a 2.75 minimum HS GPA.
Concurrent Student
  • $3,000
  • 1-year max
Incoming freshmen who have successfully completed at least one UA Little Rock concurrent course while in high school. GPA Minimum 2.75.
*ACT:
Minimum composite ACT score or equivalent SAT score.
**GPA:
Minimum grade point average.

P.A.R.K. Scholarship
Awarded to students that complete the P.A.R.K. Program.
  • A letter must be submitted by P.A.R.K. verifying completion of the program.

THEA Scholarship
Awarded by the Thea Foundation to students that complete the THEA Program.
  • A letter must be submitted by THEA verifying completion of the THEA program.

Need-Based Scholarship
Scholarship award amount requirements
Trojan Strong Award Amount Varies. Covers university charges after all federal, state, and/or institutional aid has been applied. (1-year max)
  • First-time freshmen
  • Arkansas or Contiguous State Resident
  • Must be Pell-Eligible

Out-of-state Entering Freshman Students
Scholarship Award requirements
Contiguous State Waiver Waives the out-of-state portion of tuition
  • Must meet requirements for unconditional admission.
  • Must be degree-seeking.
  • Must reside in a contiguous state (LA, MO, MS, OK, TN, TX).
New Arkansan Non-Resident Tuition Award Pays 90% of the difference between resident and nonresident tuition
  • For students not receiving other waivers for out-of-state charges
  • Minimum 3.00 cumulative high school GPA
  • 20+ ACT score
Privately-funded Scholarships $1,000 – $5,000 per year
  • Over $2 million in scholarships funded thru the generosity of private donors
  • Criteria vary with each scholarship

Now, a few housekeeping items:

  • Institutional scholarships may only be awarded to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • We cannot guarantee an award to each applicant due to the competitive nature of scholarships.
  • You may receive multiple award offers for Academic Merit, Mentored Programs, and Early Trojan scholarships, but only one from each category (for a total of 3) may be stacked based on eligibility.
  • Category 1, 2, and 3 scholarships are available to pay direct expenses (tuition, fees, and room and board) that are charged to a student’s UA Little Rock student account after all waivers or discounts are applied.
  • No portion of academic scholarship funds are refunded to the student.
